Hobart Glow Tour (Ladies Only Event)

Join us for a truly memorable night that not many people can say they've experienced.  

Self Confessed Glow Girl Dr Lisa Gershwin has recently opened Hobart Glow Tours.  Did you know that many living organisms have tiny blobules of fluorescent pigments in their fur, feathers, leaves, and petals? And when these pigments are activated by UV light, they fluoresce in unimaginable colours. Bubblegum pink. Sky blue. Minty green. Scarlet red. It is, quite literally, to see things in a whole new light, and it invites us to imagine what else we don't see.

During this totally unique experience we'll explore a local forested parkland with special torches provided by Lisa to see what's glowing in the dark.   We'll be hoping to find fluorescent Marsupials, Owls, Invertebrates, Flowers, Lichens, Fungi, and Mosses.  Perhaps described more easily with poetry than science, these glow phenomena are the most wondrous part of Tassie by night. 

We'll meet outside Hamlet cafe in South Hobart at 6:30pm where we'll meet Lisa and start the tour.

Don't forget your camera and make sure you rug up!

This is a small and intimate tour and ticket sales are limited to 8. This tour is not suited to people with mobility issues.
